Domaine Arlaud

Morey-Saint-Denis

Meet the producer

Established in 1942 through the union of Renée Amiot a Burgundian and Joseph Arlaud, an Ardèche native.

Joseph expanded their vineyard holdings in 1949, and in 1966, they acquired a 14th-century historic site for wine aging, now featured on their label.

Hervé Arlaud took over the leadership from his father in 1983, collaborating with his wife Brigitte to expand the vineyard.

Their children joined the family business from 2004 to 2012. Since 2013, Cyprien Arlaud has managed the 15-hectare estate with 19 appellations, including esteemed Grand Crus like Clos de la Roche and Charmes Chambertin.

The historic cellar in Nuits Saint Georges, echoing three generations of Burgundian hospitality now hosts a collection of aged vintages, while the more recent winery and barrel aging cellars are located in Morey-Saint-Denis.

The Estate’s philosophy

In 1998, the domain ceased herbicide use, acknowledging their adverse effects on soil and water.

By 2004, their 15-hectare estate transitioned entirely to organic farming, renouncing synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. Certification by "Veritas" in 2007 led to the 2010 Organic Agriculture Label.

In 2009, they embraced Biodynamic farming, utilizing natural preparations for soil and vine balance, being the first estate in Morey Saint Denis's to get the Biodynamic certification in 2014.

Since 2004, Bertille Arlaud and her horses plowed 5 hectares of Grand Crus and 1ers Crus. Since 2003, their winemaking has been focusing on grape purity, employing minimal intervention, gravity flow, and limited sulfur for authentic wines.

The final blend occurs in tanks weeks before bottling. Except for whites, their wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered, ensuring true terroir expression.
