Domaine Hudelot-Baillet
Chambolle Musigny
The Estate’s philosophy
Located in Chambolle-Musigny, Domaine Hudelot-Baillet embodies a captivating family heritage.
Established in 1981 by Joël Hudelot, with the support of his wife, Chantal Baillet, the estate proudly inherited vineyards from Joël's father, Paul Hudelot.
In 1998, a pivotal moment arrived with Dominique Le Guen, Joël's son-in-law, taking charge of winemaking.
Under Dominique's passionate stewardship, the domain underwent a transformative shift in 2004, committing exclusively to 100% estate-bottled wines.
In 2019, Tanguy, Dominique's son, marked the seventh generation, ensuring a seamless continuation of the family's viticultural heritage.
Together, father and son shared the same vision, passionately committed to perpetuating the heritage and quality of Burgundy wines.
Meet the producer
Dedicated to making wines that authentically represent their terroir, the estate employs meticulous viticulture practices. Their commitment to sustainable farming firstly includes manual harvesting and thorough grape sorting to ensure optimal quality. Manual practices like sun-side leaf removal, shoot thinning, and green harvesting are utilized.
The introduction of horse plowing in select plots since 2020 reaffirms their dedication to traditional and sustainable methods. Since 1989, their environmental approach includes avoiding herbicides and encouraging deep-rooted systems.
When it comes to vinification, the process starts with indigenous yeasts, and they use a low-intervention process, allowing the natural expression of flavors. The 100% destemming process enhances fruit expression, followed by oak aging tailored to each wine's unique character (between 12 to 18 months).
For village and premier cru wines, they choose an aging process with 20 to 30% new oak barrels, while grand cru wines undergo aging with 50% new oak barrels. The village, premier cru, and grand cru wines are vinified in oak barrels, while the remaining wines are vinified in stainless steel tanks.
